Support given to Tongan Nurses Association of NZ
12 November 2018
SouthSeas Healthcare supported the Tongan Nurses Association of NZ annual ball held earlier this month at the Grand Millennium Hotel in Auckland.
Staff who attended the masquerade ball said there was a great turn out.
President of the Tongan Nurses Association NZ Eseta Finau says the annual ball is an important event for all Tongan nurses to pause and celebrate their work with families and be part of a networking event to connect with others about how to further improve nursing services for Pacific people, and especially Auckland’s large Tongan community.
The Tongan Nurses Association was formally established as an Incorporated Society in December 2000, to act as the hub for the Tongan nursing profession in New Zealand.
The hub provides the infrastructure, administration and backroom support for the activities of the members of the Association for developing excellent nursing practice and health service delivery for Tongan and Pacific peoples.
The Association aims to support the growth of the Tongan nursing profession in New Zealand. A key aim of the Association is to help bridge the transition of Nurses who are trained, qualified and have previously worked in Tonga who want to enter into the nursing profession in New Zealand.
The annual ball promotes and encourages the nursing profession as a career for Tongans and is an opportunity for nurses to connect, celebrate and share their voices on health-related issues.
The Association is encouraging many more Tongan students training as nurse to join.
