A physical Pacific Response Hub has been launched in Mangere, to better serve, facilitate and guide the medium and longer-term needs of Pacific peoples in South Auckland because of the Auckland flooding. The Pacific Response Hub is a joint venture between key central and local government agencies and local South Auckland community providers, activated by South Seas Healthcare Trust in partnership and collaboration with government agencies.

The initial collective includes South Seas Healthcare Trust, Vaka Tautua, Pasefika Family Health Group, Pacific Homecare, Siaola, The Ministry for Pacific Peoples, The Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Education and Whaikaha – Ministry of Disabled People, with more partners to come on board.

Meeting the short-term need as we prepare for long term solutions.

The Pacific Response Hub exists to create a physically accessible, culturally appropriate hub to fulfil the requirements of Pacific families. This will be accomplished by providing a safe space and information in a variety of Pacific languages, in a physical space that allows for Talanoa, and unites the community and support via cultural values.

Pipeline of Support

With the focus to activate a pipeline of support for Pacific peoples, the Hub will provide:

* Follow up support for families who have received the immediate emergency support from AEM and Civil Defence

* Physical one-stop-shop longer term information hub for Pacific peoples and families including disabled peoples to seek guidance and support on matters/issues related to education, health, social and economic wellbeing support and business.

* A family-friendly environment and physical space for affected families and individuals to connect and identify their needs through short-medium term care plans;

* Identify and triage needs and relevant support for affected families and individuals and further refer to specialised providers on issues related to mental health etc through the development of a care plan that connects families to the right community based support that will journey with families;

*Support host families of evacuees with wrap around wellbeing support

Strength of a Village

The Pacific Response Hub will be a village inspired collaboration of partners, focused on supporting the comprehensive family requirements through Government Agencies and local Community Providers onsite. Which works in collaboration with the Pacific Wellbeing Strategy.

Opening Hours

The Hub will be open from Midday on Wed 1 February, at 5 Otara Road, Otara. Open from 9am - 5pm (Monday - Friday); 9am - 12pm (Saturday).

Please entre through GATE A. Access to all services at the hub is free of charge.
