Community Navigator
Deborah is a Wellbeing Navigator working to assist families within the community by connecting them to the correct services and organisations. This could be through Work and Income and/or the internal services that South Seas Healthcare provides. Deborah believes that as a navigator she can pay it forward by helping the community better their lifestyle choices and become more self-reliant. Deborah is of Tongan decent and uses her skill to communicate to help more in the Tongan community. Her passion is to serve and navigate her community to access the organisations and services needed.

Yolandi is of Samoan descent alongside other navigators truly believes in communication when dealing with the community. Advocacy and creating an easier line of communication is one of Yolandi’s main strengths in bridging families and government agencies, especially for our families who speak English as a second language. Yolandi believes her role as a navigator plays a crucial part in creating beneficial change in the community, she knows she is in the right place and can motivate families to make better lifestyle choices both big and small. Yolandi has found a great passion for serving others by helping them to identify and prioritize their welfare needs. Yolandi looks forward to being a part of the Southseas Healthcare family and plans to continue making a positive difference in the community moving forward.

Michael was born in Nottingham, England and trained at the University of Nottingham Medical School before graduating in 2016. After two years working in the NHS in the UK, he moved to New Zealand with his partner in 2018 and worked as a house officer at Auckland and Waitemata DHBs, before completing 6 months as an adult rehabilitation/older people’s health registrar at Middlemore Hospital. He then started his GP training and has worked in Panmure, Three Kings and Mt. Eden, before moving to Southseas in September 2022. His interests in medicine include diabetes and child health, although he also loves the variety of general practice. His passions outside work include cooking, cycling, and spending time at the beach.

Rodania was born in Samoa and moved to New Zealand in 2004. She graduated from The University of Otago with a bachelor’s in science in 2007 and then The University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 2015. She has experience working as a junior doctor in various specialties within the Auckland region. She is passionate working in Pacific and Woman’s health and has completed postgraduate study in Women’s Health from The University of Otago. Rodania enjoys the diversity of General Practice and is currently completing her first year of GP training.

Pene Pati is an ARi Diabetes Registered Nurse Coordinator at South Seas Healthcare. Pene provides diabetes self –management education on insulin tablets, insulin initiation, diet and leading a healthy lifestyle. Pene qualified as a General and Obstetric Registered Nurse in Samoa and has worked in all fields including the outpatient department, operation theatre, medical and surgical wards, paediatric wards, maternity: antenatal, delivery and postnatal, family planning, ENT, ophthalmology and the chest clinic.

Malaefono Seve is the Health Coach and Health and Safety Officer at South Seas Healthcare and is of Tokelauan and Tuvaluan heritage. He is a qualified Phlebotomist (blood taker) and is responsible for completing blood tests to determine diabetes risk and Cardivascular Disease. Malaefono manages recalls for our diabetes patients and is a diabetes / pre-diabetes Educator, responsible for setting up referrals to the dietician, podiatrist and retinal specialist. He also provides smoking cessation support for some patients. Malaefono started working for South Seas Healthcare in 2007, and believes in walking alongside our patients on their journey to healthier lifestyles.

Darian has worked in the healthcare industry for 7 years. She gained her qualifications in Care-giving Level 2, to Health and Wellbeing with Advanced Support Level 4. In the past 7 years she has worked as a caregiver in rest homes, caregiver for in-home support for the elderly, and as a community support worker for people living with disabilities. She is now the Healthcare Assistant for South Seas Clinic and feels greatly privileged to give back to this community, as well as be part of an organisation that is deeply connected in providing excellent health and well-being for Pacific people and all communities.

Ana is a registered nurse. A graduate of Manukau Institute of Technology 2003 with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science Nursing same year she gained a NZ Nursing Registration as a Comprehensive Nurse. She has 18 years’ experience in Well Child Health in the role as Well Child Nurse and Clinical Team Leader in the areas of Outreach immunisations, Family Centre, Well Child services across the Counties Manukau Area.

Medical Receptionist
Uea Teiaua is of Kiribati descent proudly working as a medical receptionist for Southseas Healthcare. She has been working for Southseas for over a year now, first working out at the COVID-19 testing station during the second stage of the surge last year August 2021 and has now redeployed into working inside the clinic as a receptionist. Uea described her experience at the testing station during the surge a very challenging one but was quick to adapt to the work environment. Upon taking up a new role as a receptionist in the clinic, Uea was ready to learn on the go and throughout this role it has made Uea become more resilient and show a willingness of determination to help our Maori/Pasifika people in the clinic but also outside the clinic. She is also the eldest of five siblings.

Victoria Cocker joined the Medical Receptionists at the South Seas Clinic in October 2022, she was previously working as a Vaccination Administrator since August 2021. She has a background in Customer Service. Victoria has a passion for serving others and wishes to grow learning more along the way. Victoria speaks both English and Tongan.
